I would like to nominate Tori Pinkerton and Karlyn Hamlyn for Mesa Moments recognition. Through their initiative and leadership with support from our PFO, Mesa Union is participating in Battle of the Books for the first time proving reading enrichment for Mesa’s third through eight grade students. Battle of the Books is competition style reading program where students read a selected list of novels. Mesa’s students have been working in teams and then will compete for individual awards on March 6th. Karlyn facilities the 3rd and 4th grade readers, while Tori works with the 5th through 8th grade readers. Each week they plan activities that are both engaging and foster a love of reading. We look forward to expanding this worthwhile program under their leadership in the future.
